Inventions were a big part of the industrial revolution, obviously. The second industrial revolution was much more technologically advanced than the first industrial revolution. Things like the typewriter, the telephone, automobiles, and the airplane were invented. These all helped make life much easier for the people. The typewriter helped women keep important documents on paper and filed. The telephone made it easier to communicate with people from afar. The automobile helped transportation from point A to point B faster. And the airplane made the American dream of some day being able to fly come true. To the left are also more inventions not listed. During the second revolution there were many useful inventions created that helped the world become what it is today. If it weren't for people like Alexander Bell, Thomas Edison, and Wilbur and Orville Wright we wouldn't have any of the luxury items we have today, such as our cell phones, computers, and music. And for that we thank them for taking the time to invent something that could evolve over time and create our past times.
I believe that the automobile turned out to make the greatest impact on the American life of the 19th century. People were awed at the fact that this "thing" could roll on wheels, be gas powered, and get them from point A to point B in a matter of minutes. I'm sure that no inventor could have expected for the invention of the automobile to be what it is today.
